Alumni Update 3/13 – 3/19
Division 1
Logan Azem (Serra, 2020) – Picked up his first career Division 1 hit against Washington State for San Francisco on Mar. 15.
Zander Darby (Palo Alto, 2021) – Hit 5-12 with 2 HR’s, 4 RBI, and 4 BB’s over 4 games against Loyola Marymount and Cal State Bakersfield to help extend UC Santa Barbara’s (15-3, 3-0) winning streak to 10 games. Darby is now hitting .299 with 3 HR’s in 67 at bats and is tied for the team lead in extra-base hits with 13.
Mario Demera (St. Ignatius, 2020) – Went 5-12 with a double, 6 BB’s and 6 runs over 4 games for San Francisco against Washington State and Gonzaga. He now leads the Dons (9-7, 0-3) in hits (22), good for a .379 batting average and is riding a 6-game hitting streak.
Drew Dowd (Serra, 2020) – Pitched 3 scoreless innings and picked up the win in Stanford’s (13-5, 4-2) Sunday sweep completing victory of Oregon State. He struck out 4 and retired all 9 hitters he faced.
Luke Keaschall (Aptos, 2020) – Led Arizona State (12-8, 2-1) to a 3-win week and conference series win over Utah going 10-16 with 3 HR’s, 3 2B’s, 11 RBI’s and 8 runs scored. Keaschall’s monster week gives him the team lead in home runs (5) and .OPS (1.120), while boosting his average to .342 for the Sun Devils this season.
Owen Stevenson (Sacred Heart Cathedral, 2020) – Threw 5 scoreless innings across two games against Utah Tech and Utah this week for Arizona State. He struck out 8 while allowing only 2 hits and walked nobody.
Jeter Ybarra (St. Francis, 2020) – Recorded his first career Division 1 hit on Feb. 23 at San Jose State and went 2-2 with 2 RBI’s, a HBP, and a run scored in a Sunday start against Rhode Island. He is now hitting .400 (4-10) for Washington (14-4, 2-1) this season.
Division 2
Antonio Nanez (Los Gatos, 2021) – Went 3-4 with a double, two walks, an RBI, a run scored over two games for San Francisco State (11-8, 4-7) this weekend against Cal State San Bernadino.
Division 3
Lou Martineau (Burlingame, 2022) – Hit his 2nd home run of the season while going 3-8 in games against Endicott and Webster for Occidental (4-14, 2-4) this weekend. Martineau is hitting .377 with an OBP of .488 and leads the team with 7 stolen bases this season.
Tyler Shaw (Serra, 2020) – Went 8-15 over 3 games for Claremont Mudd-Scripps (16-6, 6-3) with 2 2B’s and 3 RBI against Cal Lutheran. He extends his hitting streak to 13 games and has now scored at least one run in 10 straight games. Shaw is now hitting a team leading .412 on the season.
