Top Story

Luke Short (Los Gatos, 2018) – Set the school single season strikeout record for Division 2 St. Edwards University (36-13) by striking out 6 over 6 innings and picking up his 10th win of the season in their 9-2 win over Texas A&M International. Short is now 10-1 in 13 starts and has amassed 115 strikeouts to just 22 walks over 80 innings pitched. The 115 strikeouts are good for 1st in the Lone Star Conference and 2nd in all of NCAA Division 2. His ERA leads the team at 2.25 and is second in the conference, also. The left hander from Los Gatos has 6 starts with double digit strikeouts this year and has only had two starts that did not complete 6 innings, which were his first two. Division 1

Jonah Advincula (Mitty, 2019) – Went 5-12 with 2 doubles and scored 8 times over 4 games for Washington State (25-17, 7-13) in games against Utah Valley and Utah. He also added 4 stolen bases on the week making him 18-19 on the season. Jonah is now hitting .363 for the Cougars and holds an .OPS of 1.039. His hitting streak was snapped at 10 games, but he still carries his on-base streak of 20.

Dalton Bowling (Kennedy, 2019) – Had 5 hits in 12 at bats, including 3 doubles for San Jose State (20-20, 13-9) in three games against Air Force. He drove in 3 runs to add to his team leading 40 and raised his average to .296 on the season. Bowling also still leads the team in HR’s (8) and extra base hits (23).

Zander Darby (Palo Alto, 2021) – Picked up 5 hits in 15 at bats including two doubles, drove in 3, and scored 3 times in #9 UC Santa Barbara’s (28-12, 13-5) sweep of UC Davis. They have now won 6 in a row and sit two games back of #11 Cal State Fullerton (26-13, 17-4) for the conference lead. Darby is now hitting .280 with an .OPS of .842 on the season and has started all 40 games for the Gauchos, leading the team with 157 at bats.

Mario Demera (St. Ignatius, 2020) – Went 6-16 with 2 doubles, a run, and an RBI over 4 games for San Francisco (16-23, 7-14) against Fresno State and St. Mary’s. Mario continues to lead the Dons in hitting (.375) and .OBP (.451), good for a .925 .OPS. He has started all 39 games this season.

Drew Dowd (Serra, 2020) – Threw 3.2 innings over two outings allowing 1 run on 4 hits and a walk while striking out 5 for #7 Stanford (28-13, 15-6) in their series win over UCLA. Over his last 6 appearances, he has pitched 12.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits and 3 walks and has punched out 23 opposing hitters.

Luke Keaschall (Aptos, 2020) – The #11 Arizona State (29-15, 14-6) 2nd baseman continues to outdo himself adding 4 home runs, 4 doubles, 7 RBI, and 9 runs over 5 games against #12 Cal State Fullerton and #10 Oregon. He went 11-21 on the week to raise his average to .375 and his SLUG to a team leading .756, which is also good for 30th in NCAA Division 1. His .OPS now sits at an incredible 1.222 for the season.

Patrick Keighran (Serra, 2021) – Hit his 3rd and 4th home runs of the season and drove in 4 runs in San Francisco’s (16-23, 7-14) 7-6 win over St. Mary’s. He went 5-14 on the week to boost his average to .259 and .OPS to .877 in 81 at bats this season.

Aaron Parker (Los Altos, 2021) – Had 5 hits in 12 at bats with a double, 3 runs scored and drove in 2 in #9 UC Santa Barbara’s (28-12, 13-5) sweep of UC Davis. He raises his average to .329 and has an .OPS of .983 on the season.

Owen Stevenson (Sacred Heart Cathedral, 2020) – Pitched 4 innings allowing 1 unearned run on 2 hits and a walk, while striking out 2 across two appearances for #11 Arizona State (29-15, 14-6) against Cal State Fullerton and Oregon. He has not allowed an earned run over his last 4 appearances (7 innings).

Tommy Troy (Los Gatos, 2020) – Hit his 7th home run of the season and also added 2 doubles, 4 runs, and 2 RBI while going 7-19 for #7 Stanford (28-13, 15-6) in 4 games against Cal and UCLA. The Cardinal 3rd baseman is still leading the team in hitting (.383) and holds an .OPS of 1.083 on the season.

Jeter Ybarra (St. Francis, 2020) – Hit his first career Division 1 home run for Washington (25-13, 11-9) against USC in Friday’s 14-12 win. He is hitting .311 in 74 at bats this season for the Huskies.

Division 2

Dylan Day (Santa Rosa, 2020) – Threw 6 innings allowing just 1 run on 4 hits and a walk while striking out 4 in Chico State’s (18-23, 12-19) extra inning win over Cal State Dominguez Hills. He lowers his ERA to 3.32 over 40.2 innings so far this season.

Division 3

Will Kinney (Serra, 2022) – Went 4-9 with 2 runs scored for Pomona Pitzer (17-19, 8-12) in their weekend series with Chapman. The Sagehens shortstop raises his average to .250 on the season and holds an .OBP of .395.

Lou Martineau (Burlingame, 2022) – Continued his strong season going 3-8 with a double and a run in Occidental’s (5-32, 3-21) weekend series with Redlands. He is now hitting .321 on the season with an .887 .OPS.

JC Ng (Menlo Atherton, 2021) – Hit his 6th home run of the season (off of another CCB alum Max Banks) in Pomona Pitzer’s (17-19, 8-12) 10-7 win over Chapman. He went 5-10 in the series with 2 doubles, 4 RBI, and 4 runs scored. Ng is now hitting .304 on the season and leads the team in .OBP at .449.

Tyler Shaw (Serra, 2020) – Had a 5 hit day Sunday and went 9-15 on the series, including a double and 5 RBI in Claremont Mudd-Scripps’s (27-7, 17-4) sweep of Caltech, giving them a 10-game winning streak. He is now hitting .407 on the season and has still reached base in every game this season and has a 42-game on base streak dating back to last season.

Junior College

Garrett Arnold (Bellarmine, 2020) – Went 3-7 with a double and 3 RBI in Modesto’s (21-16, 12-12) series win over Cosumnes River. The Pirates catcher is hitting .255 in 98 at bats this season.

James Bose (Leigh, 2022) – Hit his 2nd home run of the season, drove in 6, and scored 5 times while going 4-14 in West Valley’s (19-21, 10-10) 3-0 week. He is now hitting .246 on the season in 118 at bats, but is riding a 6-game hitting streak and also hit safely in 8 of his last 9 going 13-34 (.382) over that stretch.

Nate Brouse (Aptos, 2021) – Picked up his 7th save of the season by throwing a scoreless 9th in Folsom Lake College’s (30-9, 16-8) win over Los Medanos. He is tied for second place in the Big 8 in saves and holds an ERA of 4.13 in 32.2 innings of work this season.

Matt Fung (Serra, 2020) – Hit his 2nd home run of the season in Santa Barbara City’s (27-13, 17-7) 6-5 loss to Allan Hancock. He is hitting .232 on the season in 99 at bats and has an .OBP of .412.

Fred Ramos (San Leandro, 2021) – Hit his 4th home run of the year in Chabot’s (28-11-1, 15-5) 10-6 win over Skyline. He is hitting .287 in 115 at bats this season.

Zach Teijeiro (St. Francis, 2020) – Went 4-5 on Thursday in Skyline’s (25-14, 10-10) 10-6 loss to Chabot. He is now hitting .315 in 73 at bats and has a .921 OPS on the season.

PK Walsh (Serra, 2021) – Had 7 hits in 15 at bats for Santa Barbara City (27-13, 17-7) while scoring 6 times and driving in 5 in the Vaquero’s 3-1 week. He is now hitting .329, leads the team in RBI with 32 and has started all 40 games this season.
