Alumni Update 4/3 – 4/9
MLB
Kris Bubic, Kansas City Royals – Allowed 0 runs on 2 hits and 0 walks while punching out 9 over 6 innings in the Royals 3-1 loss to the Giants on Easter Sunday. Bubic has thrown 11 innings in 2 starts so far this season allowing 2 runs (1.64 ERA) and is allowing less than a baserunner per inning (0.91 WHIP). The former 1st round draft pick out of Stanford made his MLB debut on July 31, 2020 and has now thrown 320 innings in his Major League career. Story
James Outman, Los Angeles Dodgers – Has played in all 10 games for the Dodgers thus far and is hitting .296 with 3 home runs and 9 RBI. He went 6-20 this week (.300) with 2 HR’s and 2 3B’s in 6 games against the Rockies and the Diamondbacks. The Redwood City, CA native was drafted in the 7th round out of Sacramento State and made his MLB debut on July 31, 2022.
Division 1
Jonah Advincula (Mitty, 2019) – Had 6 hits in 15 at bats including 2 doubles and his 4th home run of the season for Washington State (18-12, 5-9) against BYU and Arizona State. He is now hitting .331 in a team high 118 at bats this season. His .OPS sits at .954 and he also leads the team in stolen bases with 10.
Dalton Bowling (Kennedy, 2019) – Hit his team leading 5th home run of the season while going 3-12 in San Jose State’s (15-11, 8-4) series win over New Mexico. He is now hitting .304 on the season and is also leading the team in RBI (28).
Nico Button (Serra, 2021) – Went 3-10 with a run scored over 3 games for Cal (12-15, 3-12) against #10 Stanford. He is now hitting .313 (5-16) and has started 5 straight games for the Bears.
Mario Demera (St. Ignatius, 2020) – Doubled 4 times and drove in 2 runs, while going 8-15 for San Francisco (13-13, 4-8) over 3 games against BYU in Provo. Demera boosts his average to .402 on the season and leads the team in hits (39) and doubles (10) while starting all 26 games for the Dons this season.
Luke Keaschall (Aptos, 2020) – Went 6-15 with 2 doubles, an RBI, and 4 runs scored in #16 Arizona State’s (23-9, 10-2) win over Seattle and 3-game conference sweep of Washington State. He raises his average to .339 this season in 127 at bats and has an .OPS of 1.050. He has started all 32 games for the Sun Devils this year.
Ryan Lee (St. Francis, 2022) – Doubled twice against St. Mary’s and went 4-12 for the week, driving in 3 runs for UC Davis (10-17, 3-9) against St. Mary’s and UC San Diego. He is now hitting .297 (11-37) on the season and has reached base in 8 straight games.
Jordan Lewis (San Ramon Valley, 2022) – Went 3-4 with two runs scored and an RBI after subbing in for another CCB Alum, Dawson Brigman (injury), to earn his first college career hit in Santa Clara’s (16-11, 6-6) non-conference win over #11 UC Santa Barbara.
Tommy Troy (Los Gatos, 2020) – Had 6 hits in 12 at bats, including his 4th home run of the season, while scoring twice and driving in two in #10 Stanford’s (21-7, 10-2) weekend sweep of Cal. Tommy now leads Stanford in hitting (.424), .OPS (1.210), SLUG (.696), and SB’s (10). His .424 average is good for top 25 among all NCAA Division 1 hitters.
Division 3
Max Banks (Stuart Hall, 2021) – Earned his 4th win in as many starts throwing 7 innings, allowing just one unearned run on 4 hits and 2 walks while striking out 5 in Chapman’s (18-10, 9-3) 6-1 sweep clinching win over Occidental. The outing lowers his ERA to 2.94 for the season and he has amassed 57 strikeouts in 49 innings to just 17 walks.
Junior College
Antonio Carter (Bishop O’Dowd, 2022) – Hit 5-12 including his 2nd home run of the season and a double while scoring 5 times and driving in 2 in San Mateo’s (23-8, 7-5) series win over Skyline. The week brings Carter’s average to .354 in 48 at bats and is now leading the team in SLUG (.563).
Kaito Haake (Los Gatos, 2022) – Drove in 3 of Skyline’s (22-9, 7-5) 4 runs in their 4-1 win over San Mateo on Tuesday. He is hitting .289 (11-38) and has driven in 11 runs in just 14 appearances so far this season.
Jaden Mazzaferro (Los Gatos, 2021) – Had 4 hits in 10 at bats over 3 games in West Valley’s (14-17, 6-6) series win over Canada. He is now hitting .257 on the season and has started 29 of 31 games for the Vikings.
PK Walsh (Serra, 2021) – Went 3-7 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI in Santa Barbara City’s (19-12, 9-6) DH split with Riverside. He is now hitting .292 on the season in a team leading 106 at bats and has started all 29 games for the Vaqueros this season. He is also the team leader in RBI with 24.
